Medical Gymnasium

I have been a little under the weather and not able to go to the hospital, but I keep hearing great reports from those who have visited Peter and his parents. He has great energy, he’s eating very well, and he’s happy. I hear that he’s been playing baseball with a Twins pillow, throwing the football, playing knee-hockey, and racing cars. This doesn’t sound like a kid attached to an IV in a hospital. But it does sound like Peter.

Between the second and third rounds of chemo, Peter will have a marrow cell harvest procedure. Ty and Erika had an informative meeting the other day with a marrow transplant specialist and that procedure shouldn’t be too intrusive. I believe the harvested cells are “cleaned” and frozen. The good cells will then be re-inserted into Peter much later in his treatment.

So, like a true champion, he’s often making this battle look easy. I have to believe the enemy is on the run.

  1. Oh Peter we are so very happy that you are doing so well and having fun during your treatment too. You are really showing those “bad guys” that they are dealing with the wrong boy and that they better get out of there as you many things you want to do.
Just keep being brave and do as your doctors and mom and dad tell you and you will continue to succeed and feel so much better.
Have a good sleep while the angels watch over you.
BIG hugs for all of you.

  4. I am smiling big time, Pete! 🙂 Why is not surprising that all your posts are so postive!? You are so incredibly courageous and brave – you give me goose-bumps! I bet the bad guys in your tummy are wishing they hadn’t messed with you! They didn’t know that they were fighting against such a tough opponent! Too bad for them, eh??!! 🙂 Your postive attitude and un-dying energy continue to amaze me… your upbeat spirit and contagious love for life are really inspirational to us all. Even though you are dealing with an unexpected, unplanned and definetly unwanted battle, you amazingly take it all in stride. You are teaching us all the really imporant stuff in like. We are learning more from you then we will ever learn from any textbook. Thanks for teaching us all to savor every moment of life. You are my hero…..
Keep fighting Pete…. Keep smiling 🙂 and never forget that we all love you and will continue to pray and fight until the very end. We can’t wait until they can change the sign at the ice arena to “Welcome Home Peter. You’ve won the fight.”
I miss you, little man. Perhaps we can arrange another play date when you are home again??
    With infinite love and prayers-

  6. Hi Peter-

We are so very happy that you are doing so well. Do you have the same nurses taking care of you as last time? Bet they are very nice to such a cute boy as you. Every day when we drive past the Civic Center and see your sign – Keep fighting Pete – we say a quick prayer for you and your family. Yesterday we found out that they are tearing up part of Riverside Drive up by Ahrens hill so our usual way into and out town from Merrifield is detoured. We will make special point to drive past the Civic Center though, just so we can see your sign, think of you and pray for you. Jim, Jared, and I tryed to think of something extra special that we could do for you and your family and the most important thing that we came up with is that we can pray to God for you to completely beat this bad “path thing”. So many people are thinking and praying for you and your family we’re sure God will answer our prayers! The past couple of nights the Twins haven’t pulled out the game until the late innings. Have you been able to stay up until the end to watch them win? Please thank your Uncle Matt and your Dad and Mom for posting information about you se we can keep up on how you are doing! Keep up your good fight .

    Jim, Laleen and Jared Goerges

  7. Hey Peter it was fun playing “chair hockey” on tuesday! man you have quite the wrist shot! I am looking forward to playing “chair hockey” again! I think I may have a new career! What about that twins game last night! After the outs they made at first and they were up to bat Gary said”now they got to get some hits” and if you watched the game you know what happened! go twinks! I heard your doctors are pleased with your recovery! Maybe we will have to tell them that part of your treatment is my singing to those bad boys! They may want me to cut a cd! Well I guess I will see you next time you are here for a few days. give your sisters hugs and kisses for me. love jayne p.s.drip drip drip…

  8. Hey Peter. We are glad to hear that you are doing so good. Keep fighting hard to beat the bad guys. Hopefully the twins can finish off the season good and make it to the playoffs. Stay strong buddy, hope to see you soon. The Jelacies

  9. Peter,

We are so happy to hear that you have been feeling good this week in the hospital. It is great that you have energy to play with your family and visitors while you are there. You have such a great attitude! We are so proud of you!

Hey, have you scored top shelf lately? I still can’t lift the puck so you will have to help me again when you get home. Until then, we will pray that you keep hitting the top shelf in your fight against the “path thing”.

    With our love and prayers,
Sue, Rod, Jenny, Ryan, and Molly
