Peter is still doing well. He’s been playing some air hockey and various games. He even rode his bike in the driveway (he was racing his dog, Baron) and remains his happy-go-lucky self.
However, he is weak. Before his diagnosis, he wasn’t eating well and low energy kept him from playing and working his muscles. He was losing weight. Then two weeks in the hospital only exaggerated his condition. So like a newborn horse, he is a little unstable. On the long walk from his hospital room to the car, he took a couple spills (no harm done).
Erika and Ty are getting into their new routine. They are administering various medications multiple times per day through Peter’s line. They also have to care for the lines. In addition, they will be keeping careful records of food and drink intake (and bathroom activities). A nurse will be visiting a couple times per week to take blood and do checkups.
That’s it for now. Happy Labor Day!
So glad to hear that everything is going well for Peter at home. Sounds like he is being active like a 4 year old.
Ty and Erika, I bet you all are so glad to be home and in a somewhat routine with the girls there too. Hope all goes well for Peter until his next hospital visit.
We are thinking of all of you everyday and saying prayers too.
Lots of Love
Hello Peter,
We are happy you are home and able to do a few fun things. Keep eating good – that will help you stay strong and get better faster. We just got home from lunch after Parker John’s baptism. Emily came home with us and she would like to write you a little note. Stay strong little man – we will keep you in our prayers.

Hey, my friend-
I was so excited to read that you actually got to play outside for a while! It sure ended up being a nice weekend. I bet Baron enjoys playing outside with you, too! Who won the race today – you or Baron?? Hey, Pete… you be sure to keep eating your fruits and veggies so you can get STRONG and get BIG MUSCLES… remember, just like how we always talk about at daycare! We have to eat healthy in order to get our muscles big and strong….
We had Parker baptized today…. while at church, I prayed EXTRA HARD for you! I kept praying and praying and praying…..
I imagine you have been enjoying your family time… and hopefully you have achieved some form of “normalcy” again! I have no doubts that Ellie and Kate are happy to have their big brother back at home again – they sure missed you! ( I MISS YOU, TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Emily, Auntie Tara and I are going shopping in St. Cloud tomorrow (Monday)… Auntie Tara is going to have a baby, so she wants to buy some clothes to fit her growing belly! 🙂 Maybe we will stop at Toys-R-Us and buy a special toy for you, Peter!
Love you forever-
Jenni
Ty & Erika –
You are amazing parents…. you are taking on so many challenges – ones that you never imagined you’d ever have to do, yet you handle it all so well. Please ALWAYS know that I am here to help in any way. You know how to reach me! 🙂
If visitors are permitted, I would enjoy seeing you ALL, even if only for a minute! (I will leave my kids at home, if that’s best.)
With love and prayers-
Jenni
Hi Peter, I’m glad you got outside to play with Baron. Did you use his new Chuckit? It rained here most of the day.
I went to church this morning with Uncle Tito, Aunt Melissa and the boys. Buzz has his hair cut just like yours. You are such a trend setter!!
Keep that smile on your face and be good for Mom and Dad. Love you lots. Gramma Mary

Hi Peter!
I was reading how well you are doing from your website this weekend in Canada (thanks Uncle Matt!), and so glad to hear you could go home on Friday with Mom & Dad. That sounds great! We have been praying things would go well, and will be doing that for you to keep getting better.
I was up in Canada with Dan, as he had his first pre-season tournament with his new team, St. Paul Lakers. They did not do too well, but they had a good time and have 3 weeks to practice before the season starts. Conrad Kragness is on Dan’s team, and he told me to say “Hi, Pete, little buddy! Keep fighting hard!”
Also tell mom and dad “Hi” from us, and that they are the greatest! (but you probably already know that 🙂 You are all in our prayers.
Love,
– Tim & Deb
Hi Peter,
Although I’ve never met you, just looking at your picture reminds me of your Daddy. He and my son Donny were friends up at the Minnesota Hockey Camps during many summers. I was worried that Donny wouldn’t like the food very much because he was always a picky eater. WEll, I didn’t have to worry after I heard that your Gramma Mary was a cook there! She would try to find something extra for your Daddy and Donny to eat after they finished their chores. I specifically remember apple pies being sold to your Daddy and my son for whatever change they could come up with. Your Gramma Mary was like a guardian angel those summers because she helped my son enjoy the camp so much–and she put my mind at ease because I knew my son wasn’t to go hungry. I bet you have the same kind of help these days with many, many guardian angels who are just hanging around ready to help you all. I hope you have something as good as your Gramma Mary’s apple pies to snack on. xox, Natalie Granato
To Ty and Erika,
Tony has kept our family informed of Peter’s progress. We send our love and support to you all and especially Peter. If there is one thing we’ve learned from the adversity we’ve lived through as a family, it’s that the hockey community is one very strong, tough family to deal with. They don’t give up. Period. You can count on the many prayers of love and support coming your way.
One thing that I beleive would help Peter is to visualize the treatments doing their work in his body—-this may sound like a stretch for a four year old, but he could equate them to the super heros who come on the scene ready to pummel the villians. I bet you could get him into a quiet mood and get this point across. You don’t want to make a joke of this, you really want him to believe that this medicine is going to do the job. Use whatever you can (sports, etc.) to get this attitude imbedded in his little head……….add the prayers into the equation as well. Teach him to fight and use his brain power to make the super hero treatments do their job.
You are in our hearts, Don and Natalie Granato
Peteman,
I heard you caught some huge fish today and your dad caught some little puny ones, that doesn’t surprise me. I miss seeing you, but I’m glad you are enjoying yourself at home. Take care buddy.
We miss you and love you,
Uncle Troy, Auntie Macer, Grace, Lily & Murphey
