Ty and Erika finished the consultation and they learned two things of unequal importance.
Of utmost importance, Peter’s tests all came back negative. Nothing ‘lit up’ on the scans and everything looks clear. They did see a little mass in his abdomen, but it didn’t light up, so they believe it is scar tissue from the surgeries. Nevertheless, it’s one of those little tidbits that keeps one on edge. Overall, though, Peter’s health looks great and he’s exactly where everyone hoped he’d be at this point.
The second — and less important update — is that Peter will not get the antibody treatment here in Minneapolis, tempering the excitement from outstanding test results. Other than knowing that the future holds many trips to New York and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, what lies ahead is very vague. The doctors of the two hospitals are beginning their dialogue to determine the treatment schedule. The Eigner’s expect the first of many trips to New York any day now.
The whole Eigner clan was just at my house gathering their remaining belongings and they’re in good spirits given the uncertain months ahead. Although they wanted to continue Peter’s care locally, Ty said “Who knows, it could even be better in some ways.”
Peter is unfazed. His focus is on his “first real baseball game tomorrow night!”, but I think it’s actually t-ball. He announced that he is number 7 and he’s going to hit it out of the park. I don’t care what he does, only that he’s playing and very excited. I hope they don’t have to leave for NYC until after he takes the field.
Hi Eigners!
It was so fun to see you guys over the weekend! Like so many others we sure enjoy your company 🙂 Peter, good luck in your baseball game this week! We’ll be waiting to hear the highlights!

Peter~
What good news buddy, we are so glad to hear that your tests are all clear. No lighting up is good. Were bummed to hear that you have many trips to NYC upcoming, but as we all know things happen for a reason, and that must be where your suppose to be.
You still continue to amaze us at your strength. You have been so brave and strong through your journey, and you are such an inspiration to us as we have gone through Logan’s journey.
We hope to be able to visit real soon with you guys, not in the hospital setting would be great! We will continue to check your site, and most importantly we will not stop praying for you. Keep fighting buddy!!
Peter, Next time you come here you can run through the sprinkler with Kate and Ellie. They had fun doing that while you were at your appointment.
Good luck in your game tomorrow #7 – I know you will have a good time with all of your teammates. I’ll be thinking about you. Be sure to call me after the game. I want a full report on the game.
Love ya Gramma Mary
Hi Peter. I’m happy to hear that you are doing so well. Good luck with your first game!! I, too, will be hitting the field for the first time tonight… doesn’t it seem like we’ve been waiting for this moment forever? Anyway, I’ll be thinking of you as I play hard.
I hope you get a chance to have some fun while you are in NY. I heard the big city is really neat. Drop me a postcard, OK?
Your friend,
Ty
Peter~
First or all I have two bits of wisdom….
Number one – and of utmost importance – what awesome test results! You have fought this game like a true hero! I am so proud of you, Peter. My heart is happy and I feel like I could just squeeze you!
Second – and in my opinion, quite important – you are going to NEW YORK CITY! When I first heard this, I was bummed & sad for your family. But as I sit here and contemplate it all…. I think your daddy is right – “It could end up being better in some ways!” The most important thing in all this is Peter’s health. If going to NYC is what has to be done, then it’s got to be done. Afterall, it’s all for the love of a very special young boy. Everything happens for a reason, and God obvioulsy has sent you to NYC for some reason. We can’t second guess His choices. It may be a long 5 months with many uncertainties and many trips on airplanes – but it’s going to be OK. Take it as it comes and keep doing everything just exactly as you have been. You’re going to win, Peter… and if NYC is what it takes to make that happen – then go, enjoy, get healthy, have fun – and say hello to Lady Liberty while you’re there, too! 🙂
Ty & Erika~
Please know that I am here to help in anyway necessary….. the girls are more than welcome to stay here whenever needed – days, nights, weekends, it really doesn’t matter. Just let me know. Seriously!
With much love, prayers and wishes for healing and happy times in NYC~
Jen, Ryan, Emily, Lily & Parker
Peter,
Great news on the negative scans! We knew you were strong enough to fight that cancer.
Good luck with baseball. Perfect that you are lucky number seven. I hope the other team has their gloves ready when you step up to the plate!
Have you ever been on an airplane? Bet you will get to ride one when you go to New York. That will be fun! Have a fun summer. Send us a picture of you in your baseball uniform–with an autograph 🙂
Thinking of you,
BMC Pediatrics 🙂

We continue our thoughts and prayers.

For the first time today in nearly a year – we had Peter back at daycare. The kids were so excited when I shared with each of them that ‘Peter was coming back today!’ As Ty pulled in the driveway, each of the other 10 kids ran to the door and greeted Peter with shrills of “PEEETTTTEERRRRRRRRR”. For those of you who have not seen Peter in a while, I must tell you that his pictures don’t do justice. He looks INCREDIBLE…. he is soooo handsome, so healthy looking, so full of life & love and spirit and spunk! His hair is coming back – his eyelashes are full and thick again, and his color looks great! He is the same ol’ happy-go-lucky Peter that we all know & love! He even informed mo today that “he only has one more pound to go before he’s back to ‘normal’ ” and if he gains 2 more pounds, he told me “he would be one pound more than ‘normal’ “.
It was great to have you back today Peter. You made my heart smile and you made my day one of the most meaningful ones that I have had in a long time. Thanks for sharing some of your time with us before you head to the big city. Oh – and good luck with that “pitching machine” tomorrow. 🙂
We love you buddy and are so incredibly proud of you! If I don’t see you before you take flight, good luck, have fun and keep on fighting! When you are cruising at high altitude, maybe you could tell God to keep an extra loving hand on you and your family during your treatment… afterall, you’ll be so close to Him! 🙂
With love and continued prayers~
Jenni – your proud “daycare mommy”!
P.S. Erika – again, anything I can do to help…. I am here.
Hello Eigners
We, of course, have kept up with Peter’s health by checking the website all the time. Lots of good news happening and many prayers answered!!! Great job Pete!!! After reading Matt’s update and then clicking onto the website of the hospital that Peter will be at, I read up on what they do there. WOW! While it will be such a hard road to make trips back and forth and be so far away from family and friends, it sounds like this place is where Peter is meant to be. Our family will keep praying and thinking about Peter and the rest of the family. You guys are our heros!!
Love
Steve,Glenda,Josh,Megan and Jacob.
Erika and Ty,
Just want to tell you what gorgeous little ones you have!! Visited at Jen’s yesterday and got to see ALL of the group. Peter looks absolutely wonderful – even sported his tummy for me! Kate was very shy the last time I saw her – seems to have overcome that!!! What a little spit-fire! And little Ellie – what can I say??? Such precious children!!
Wish you all the best with your New York travels. Will keep you in our hearts. If there is anything we can do……….. you know!
Peg
Pete– You are amazing sweetie! The results are fantastic! Looks like some more work ahead but nothing you can’t handle that’s for sure. And I know most people are bummed about your trip out to NYC and it doesn’t seem to be the most convenient part of the process but I’m selfishly excited because I get to meet you and help take care of your mom and dad. We’ll make this a VERY good time for you.
Erica and Ty–I’ll call today to help get things set up. I’ll be your unofficial guide and support system while you’re here. And I’m all up for babysitting while I send you out on some mini-dates if you can tear away for a couple of hours.
With continued love and prayers–Jackie
