Back at Home

On Thursday, sometime in the later afternoon, Peter turned the corner. He quickly went from lethargic to energetic and ate a big meal. On Friday he still wasn’t 100%, so he received some more platelets and was deemed well enough to check out of the hospital. This has definitely been the toughest between-round recovery for Peter. Maybe it’s a cumulative effect from all the previous rounds. In any case, he’s back home and recharging for round 5 which is scheduled to start in a week.

Wow. It’s almost round 5 already. It won’t be long before Peter (and the doctors) will be delivering the knockout blow.

  2. Peter-
We are sure glad that you are starting to feel better. You have been so brave and strong from all this. You are a strong little man. We are sad that we wont be able to come to your benifit. We will be out of town. But soon when you are feeling better maybe you and Tate can play. Have a great rest of the week.

We are really looking forward to seeing you again… and we hope to meet some of your extended family, as well! Today is my day to stay home and rest up…. I haven’t felt good all weekend…. just kind of, well, yucky I guess. I actually have a really bad toothache, too. Maybe that’s what’s causing me to feel so blahhhhhhh!??
Anyway – have a great week at home, we hope you get to have a belated birthday celebration for Katesie-Poo, and we hope you have a strong appetite for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. Rest well, little buddy, keep fighting, and we’ll see you Sunday!

  5. I’m a friend of Grandma Barb’s and just heard of your odyssey recently. I check the website often just to see how young Peter is doing. This site is such a wonderful way to keep everyone in touch. I’m learning a lot (which I wish I didn’t have to know!), too. God bless all of you, and may Peter win this fight!

  6. Peter,

It was fun playing hockey yesterday and watching the gophers game. Hope your foot is fine after the big kick save. You were awesome in the nets. Keep up the hard work and I will see you soon.

  7. You Go Peter,
We’re so happy to hear that you have your appetite back and are fighting those bad guys. You are a champ Pete.

    Stay strong and keep eating.

  8. Hi Peter, Jayden and I are glad you are feeling a bit better. We will be at the benefit on Sunday. I want you to meet the rest of my team. I couldn’t have made it through 6 rounds with out them. Its a roller coaster Pete. Hang on tight. Each time you go down… it takes a little bit longer to bounce back. You can do it. I would love to visit you during your next round if it’s possible. My mom knit a few bags of hats for you and all the other kids at the hospital, and I would love to bring them down. Your mom can email me if she gets a few minutes. Still wearing your bracelet. I wont take it off until you are all better. I believe in you!!!!!!!!!
Love, your friend (we met at the Drs. office)

  10. Hey, Pete

I’m still on tour. Eighteen day trip that took me to Des Moines, Toronto for Herbie’s Hall of Fame Induction, Blaine, Marquette (Michigan), Boston (Mass), Lewiston (Maine), Minneapolis (where one of the Gopher players, Tom Pohl, thought I was Alex Goligoski’s grandpa talking to him after the game), Sioux Falls, Mankato, Sioux City, Waterloo (you haven’t had a real Thanksgiving until you spend it in Waterloo), back to Des Moines and finally Sioux Falls to see Bradley Malone before going back to God’s country in Nisswa. Be back in Nisswa in time for the benefit on Sunday, so will see you there.

I named every one of those cities, Pete, because I wanted to tell you there was, and will be, someone in each of those cities that knows and asks about Peter Eigner. They also know you are in a more important battle than any game they are fortunate to be a part of and they all want you to win it. Just more evidence of how small, but caring, the hockey world is when it comes to our own.

Think of you every day, Pete. We all know one thing for sure. You will keep up the good fight and beat this thing.

    Love ya,

    ole gringo

  11. Hi Peter,

Glad to hear your back home . Last night I had hockey .Coaching
Ice Mites makes me think of you, than I pray for you ,as I do offten. I couldn’t think of what to do last night. Maybe you could tall me some of the games you like to play on ice, that would be a big help to me.

I’m sorry I haven’t writtin in a long time , but I have been very busy.
I have 8 Boxer puppys to care for,now I have to sell them that’s the hard part. I want to keep them all.

Well Peter keep your skick on the ice and I will talk to you later

Lots of Prayers Karen Miles (CIA)

  12. Great Job, Pete!!!…Hope to see you all over Thanksgiving and for sure on Sunday night! Glad you are all back at home and Ty, I hope hockey is going ok!! Take care…..Coach “Z”

  13. Peter,
Great talking to you and your dad a couple of days ago. Sure wish you could have been there for the game. Your buddy Joe had our only goal and also scored in the shootout. I told him you called and he asked about you and said to say hello and hopes to finally meet you when we come back in January. He also told me to keep telling him to get you a goal. He says when I ever I tell him to do that, he usually comes thru.
I hope you are feeling well and all of the Granato’s will continue to pray. Your buddy, tony

  14. Hey Peter, How are Mom and Dad doing as my replacement players in the hockey tournament. You told me if they win it will go towards my record. I think they will help my standings.

How about this weather? Pretty nice for Nov. I finished raking leaves and washed my windows today. I enjoyed it because I could be outside. I bet you went out and played some kind of game.

I took Brandon to his hockey practice on Sunday. He had a good time. He likes playing D. He blocked two shots so he was excited. He’s not afraid to throw his body in front of the puck.

Did you have Kate’s birthday cake yet? I bet you and Ellie ate more than Kate.

I’ll see you Sun for your benefit.

    Love ya Gma Mary

  15. Hello Eigner Family,

I wish you the Happiest Thanksgiving. There truely is SO much to be thankful for!!
Enjoy the love of the holiday and all those that surround you!

    The Olsons-

  16. Happy Thanksgiving!

    Peter,

We have been thinking about you a lot lately. Tucker still wants to know when you guys can play some hockey and go bowling. I want you and the whole family to have a happy Thanksgiving and we will come see you soon.

    Love,

Chad, Gina, Kennedi, Tucker, & Vinny

  17. Woo- Hoo! I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better Pete. I hope you eat lots of Turkey on Thanksgiving and stuff that little belly of yours full! Gobble, gobble 🙂
My family and I are really looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

  18. Hi Peter~
We are so excited for your big bash on Sunday! Even Lily keeps asking when “Pet-o’s” party is? She is very concerned that you won’t be there….I keep reassuring her that you WILL be there… so, I hope you are!! 🙂 We hope you are feeling great…. that your energy level is up and that you eat lots of turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes tomorrow!! (oh, and be sure eat lots of whip creme with your pie!!) We are going to Emily, Lily & Parker’s Gramma and Grampa Kelley’s house for dinner tomorrow. Emily’s Gramma Kelley always says the prayer before dinner…. yesteday Emily asked me if I thought it would be OK for Gramma Kelley to pray for Peter at Thanksgiving time. I told her that I thought that would be a marvelous idea!!! I have a sneaking suspicion that you will be receiving many prayers tomorrow. By the end of the day, God will know your name REALLY well!! You and your family have soooo much to be thankful for! 🙂 I am really excited to see you and your family again on Sunday. I have to forwarn you though… I have an infection in my tooth (it’s called an abscess – it’s not contagious!!). The pain is pretty intense at times…. and I have a swollen lip, cheek and eye!! So, don’t laugh at me, OK!!!!!!!! I will be getting the tooth pulled on Tuesday…. I sure hope I can be as brave as you!
Sounds like Baden and Emi and Lily and Carly and Parker and Tate are getting a bit fiesty, so I suppose I better get back to my cherubs! You take care of your self, give lots of hugs and kisses to your sissy’s and give a squeeze to mommy & daddy, too. HAVE A BLESSED THANKSGIVING tomorrow and we look forward to seeing you Sunday!
    Love~
Jen, Ryan, Em, Lily and Parker

  19. Peter you braved another round, man are you strong! I bet that it is hard to eat with the ouchies in your mouth. The kids think you should eat some green Hulk jello to keep those muscles strong!
I suppose you are getting ready for Thanksgiving. Are prayers will be with you on that day and always. Peter, you have the momentum on your side now, just get through a couple of months and you will be back up and running! You have a couple of games of knee hockey waiting on you at the Enebak house.
Gear up for round five Pete, if there is a chance we could visit sometime we would love to come and see you. Emma is going to be figure skating to Rudolph the red nosed reindeer music at a small ice show in Prior Lake December 16. You might think it would be fun to watch if you are down here and able to visit. Hot chocolate and sledding at the Enebaks to follow (we’ll make it warm chocolate with little marshmallows for you!).
Take care, we are thinking of you always! You are the bravest little guy we know.

Jake and Becky, Henry, Emma, Sam and Zach
